Holy Sheet: Review

Uber Abbey Ale

9% abv
12 oz bottle
Clipper City Brewing
Baltimore, Maryland, USA

This Abbey like Ale pours a dark cola color with a thin tan head. As it settles into the glass the mahogany color comes through.

Last summer, I bought many of sampler packs of this Heavy Seas line-up and this was one that I really enjoyed. This is one complex tasting ale. As it says on the bottle, “…Grab a line…Holy Sheet!...or you’ll be swept overboard.”

There is a cola like character to the taste with a faint cherry note in the background. I really like the sweet caramel malts and the grainy flavors. The alcohol kicks in on the aftertaste for a nice little spice profile. The carbonation seems to be on the low side but, seems to be the right amount for this ale.

Pair this ale with a fine cigar

The Cigar

Gurkha Black Dragon
The coffee profile of this cigar should go well with this malty based ale. And it does! The sweet flavors of the malts are just perfect for a cigar with a coffee profile. This is a very fine pairing.
