Belgian Beer or Red Wine?

When drinking a regular beer it does not really matter what you are smoking - that is why they passed the medical marijuana law. LOL.
But, when drinking a real beer or a red wine - pairing up your cigar is important. What do I do?

When I am drinking a bold, spicy, peppery and big berry red wine,
what kind of cigar should I choose?

When my Ale is sweet and tropical with some nice spice notes any cigar will do, right?

I have this cigar - what beverage would be a perfect pairing?

It depends on what hat you are sporting on the day!
Or, just read this blog and add your comments.

Petrus Sampler Pack

The box is a work of art and contains six different Petrus Ales.
The box makes me think of a carrying case for a yard game.

Left to Right: Petrus Special, Aged Pale, Dubble Bruin, Blond Ale, Gouden Tripel, Oud Bruin.
I enjoyed the Aged Pale and the Oud Bruin with a Man O' War Solamon Cigar.

The competition is tough in this boccie ball match. The winner gets the ale.

Instead of lawn darts, how about Belgian Beer Bottle Throw. It is a competitive game but, which one will be your favorite?

Frankenmuth Brewery - New Year Stout

I enjoyed drinking the Frankenmuth Breweries New Years Stout

It was a nice tasting stout. Nice mild-medium coffee and chocolate notes. Not that complex but, very drinkable and enjoyable. And, what a great looking bottle!

Frankenmuth Michigan has two good Micro Breweries to Stop By

Frankenmuth Michigan

I stopped by the Bavarian Inn Restaurant and had a Plank Hefeweizen beer. They have about 21 different bottled German beers to select from.

Then, I made my way to the Frankenmuth Brewery to enjoy a couple of different beers. My wife had the hefeweissen and I had their porter and English IPA. I did pick up a big bottle of Holiday Stout which I’ll be reviewing sometime soon. When they reopened the Frankenmuth Brewery they went with the non-smoking environment so, I did not stay to long.

The word is they have been fighting to stay open - I think they are seeing the impact of the non-smoking environment. I would put money on it that if they reopened with a smoking environment they would be doing a little more business - but, that is their business! I know I had a few opportunities to stop by but went elsewhere so I could enjoy a fine cigar and brew.

Sullivan's Black Forest Brew Haus

During my week off I spent a few days in Frankenmuth Michigan. Of course, when I am in this town I have to stop by this Brew Pub. They always have a good selection of beer to enjoy and don’t forget about the food.

Friday night my wife and I headed over to the Brew Haus for their Volksfest. Sounds like a good reason to go over and drink some of their craft beer and a little German beer as well. Here are some pictures from the night.

The women were rough around the edges - lol.

The band and some real women did a contest to see who could hold a beer stein the longest.

My first taste of Black Monday Stout in a sampling glass.

While we were there we stayed at the Frankenmuth Motel right down the street from Sullivan’s.
